We are Jules, Trent, Ada and Frances. We love food, especially simple, good, no added nasty stuff belly fillers. The kitchen is the heart of our home, if you visit and leave hungry…well we just don’t let that happen.
Ironpot Artisan Alpine Bakers is a family run business that was born from the classic mix – LOVE, WANT & NEED for quality, wholesome bread.
With nothing available to us in our local area, we took ourselves off to Melbourne to learn all we could about making sourdough, gaining the knowledge & skills to produce a range of superior handmade sourdough breads. But it would require some practice.
We came home and got to work. Well Jules did. At seven months pregnant, she had time to practise (although maybe not always the energy!). Living in the mountains, the crisp mountain air encourages a hunger like no other and there was definitely no shortage of friends and colleagues willing to sample our wares.
Soon it became apparent that we weren’t the only ones wanting quality bread. With much local support and encouragement, we kept at it and Ironpot Artisan Alpine Bakers was born.
Without a proper baker’s oven, each individual loaf had its own ‘iron-pot’ to sit in, be it our camp oven or ‘Le Creuset’ style pot. Our name was inspired by these humble beginnings, not to mention the fact that we also drive past ‘Ironpot Creek’ daily.
In April 2020 our Rofco bakers oven arrived, and with it our baking capacity was increased to the point of there being no more excuses. Paperwork was sorted and our bread began to appear on the shelves of some wonderful local establishments. We are so fortunate and thankful for their continued support.
Getting something simple right is so satisfying. Knowing people enjoy the results of our work is gratifying. Offering a product that is not full of preservatives or any other nonsense that does not need to be there, is rewarding. Each loaf does not have anything more than it requires.
This is our passion! We love baking and being able to provide a true local product for our community.
